Vincent Baumgartner is a Swiss-Hungarian photographer and researcher based in Budapest. His work focuses on the visual and social history of the city’s built environment. In 2018, he launched Bricks of Budapest, followed by Buildings Tell Tales in 2019—an ongoing project dedicated to documenting the stories behind Budapest’s historic residential buildings. To date, he has photographed and researched over 2,000 locations. Through this project, he seeks not only to capture architectural beauty, but also to uncover the personal histories woven into the urban fabric by highlighting often-overlooked details through his photography. In doing so, he brings the past to life and reveals the human dimension of architectural heritage.

In January 2024, Vincent held his first solo exhibition at Hintaló Bar in Budapest, followed by a second at Le Troquet, the wine bar of the French Institute. In 2025, he became a member of the Hungarian Association of Photographers. That same year, his work was featured in Swiss Traces in Budapest, an exhibition organized by the Swiss Embassy and presented at both the Mayor’s Office and the Embassy itself.
